The mission of Campus Crusade for Christ is to “turn lost students into Christ-centered laborers.” Before Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father, He left us a command: 44Then he said to them, "These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled." 45Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
Luke 24:44-49 (ESV)
This command is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ: His life, atoning death, and resurrection from the grave to all. That is what we are about here at Drexel Cru; nothing more, nothing less. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians sums our passion up well, 1And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (ESV)
We proclaim what we know, Christ crucified, to Drexel’s campus and wait on the power of God to open peoples eyes to the truth!
In order to accomplish the mission of turning lost students into Christ-centered laborers, we have a vision specific to Drexel University’s campus. These are the practical ways we seek to realize our mission on this campus. - Weekly CRU Meetings
- Growth Groups (more info )
- Evangelism Training and Outreach Efforts

I. Weekly CRU Meetings – designed to build a loving community of Christians, with the knowledge of the truth, and an ability to bring that truth to bear in the lives of those on Drexel’s campus. • Biblical Teaching & God-Centered Worship • Local pastors and other gifted teachers teach from God’s word • Evangelism Training • Evangelistic outreaches
II. Growth Groups – designed to be a place of growth in the knowledge and application of the gospel; to grow students in their love for God, love for each other, and godliness. a. Small groups that make up our larger body b. Usually Guys studies and Girls Studies
III. Evangelism Training and Outreach Efforts – designed to equip students to share their faith with classmates, co-workers, friends, and everyone else. Creates contexts for the proclamation of the gospel. • Evangelism Training during CRU meetings • Initiative evangelism on the campus once a week • The Alpha Course (drexelalpha.org): every term • Prayer for Alpha • Other outreaches throughout the year
IV. Retreats & Conferences – designed to escape from the city and be immersed in worship, teaching, and fellowship for a weekend or longer for spiritual rejuvenation. • Fall Retreat • Christmas Conference • Big Break • Spring Retreat • Summer Projects (more info )
V. Involvement in a specific local church – necessarily for the Christian. CRU didn’t design the church – God did. It is God’s design that the believer be plugged into a local church. CRU does not seek to replace the church. • To grow as a believer. • To receive pastoral care and oversight • To serve
